Brand New Day

Astrology post (I’ve been practicing acupuncture since 2012 and have been a student of Chinese Medicine since 2004 but I’ve been a student of astrology and practicing astrologer since 1987, so sometimes I feel inspired to write about the heavens. Today is one of those days.):

I’m excited that Chiron is in Aries now (as of Monday). Chiron went into Pisces in 2008, and one big thing I remember at that time was the Gulf Oil Spill that went for months and also the housing bubble (see the Big Short, please!). During this transit, there was a tsunami in Japan and the Flint water crisis that is still not resolved. Chiron is the wounded healer and Pisces is mutable water. Wounded water. And people dying due to unclean water, children with lead poisoning, people getting Legionnaire’s Disease, etc.

The last time Chiron was in Pisces was in the 60s during one of the most difficult times in US history. Before that, it was during WWI, before that the Civil War… (I am being a bit geocentric here, but there was a lot of suffering in other parts of the world. I researched the US for the past transits.)

Pisces is the end of the line in the zodiac and can be a karmic dustbin of sorts. Chiron going through Pisces can bring up every collective issue and ask ‘Isn’t it time this died? Are we really still dealing with THIS?’ Many issues we thought we’d laid to rest came back up in our faces during this time, racism, police brutality, senseless murder, sexism, nationalism… Chiron in Pisces feels like the world is coming to an end.

Chiron went into Aries for a brief time last year and then retrograded back into Pisces. For that time, we felt a little bit of hope and then later, despair, exhaustion, hopelessness. This is part of why I love astrology, it’s like knowing when Winter is Coming and then when Winter is Leaving.

Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac, the baby, the brand new soul. It’s cardinal fire so it’s like the big bang forming a brand new universe. The last time Chiron was in Aries was 1968 – 1977 and the time before then was the Roaring 20s. I think this one is going to be a lot more fun.

If you are in the mood to celebrate, hug your Aries friends and thank them for their newborn exuberance. If you can’t find an Aries nearby, hug all of your dear ones and let them be the Aries by proxy…:D Watch the video below and dance and sing along.

The song that is in my head right now: A Brand New Day from the Wiz, written in 1974 (by Luther Vandross!!), the last time Chiron was in Aries. Check out the video from the movie version starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in the Link here. It’s exuberant and wonderful! (A little personal history here: I saw the stage version starring Stephanie Mills at the Fisher Theater when I was a kid growing up in the Detroit area, and it was one of our musicals when I was in high school.)

Here are the lyrics (It’s such a beautiful song):

Everybody look around
‘Cause there’s a reason to rejoice you see
Everybody come out
And let’s commence to singing joyfully
Everybody look up
And feel the hope that we’ve been waiting for
Everybody’s glad
Because our silent fear and dread is gone
Freedom, you see, has got our hearts singing so joyfully
Just look about
You owe it to yourself to check it out

Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?

Everybody be glad
Because the sun is shining just for us
Everybody wake up
Into the morning into happiness
Hello world
It’s like a different way of living now
And thank you world
We always knew that we’d be free somehow
In harmony
And show the world that we’ve got liberty
It’s such a change
For us to live so independently
Freedom, you see, has got our hearts singing so joyfully
Just look about
You owe it to yourself to check it out

Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?

Everybody be glad
Because the sun is shining just for us
Everybody wake up
Into the morning into happiness
Hello world
It’s like a different way of living now
And thank you world
We always knew that we’d be free somehow
In harmony
And show the world that we’ve got liberty
It’s such a change
For us to live so independently
Freedom, you see, has got our hearts singing so joyfully
Just look about
You owe it to yourself to check it out

Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?
Can’t you feel a brand new day?

Blessings, Lisa
